I was extremely lucky to be invited as a guest of a major supermarket to the Coronation Concert in Buckingham Palace Gardens last night (12July). The concert was arranged as a celebration of the Queen`s last 60 years as monarch. First on the impressive list were the wonderful gardens themselves, they are beautiful. A narrow river runs through the gardens, lucky birds and ducks dip into the water oblivious of their famous residence. Next the pretty rose garden provides hidden benches and archways were romance may have blossomed. Then the sponsors who all have royal patronage display their cars, chocolate, smoked salmon and wines. When the concert stared young dancers, indian drummers, ballet and opera kept us entranced. Then the wonderful Katherine Jenkins glittered on stage and her voice captavated us all. It was a beautiful evening and people had happily paid £90 a ticket to attend. As my daughter and I walked through Green Park on our way back to the tube station, lots of people were in the park and said they had been able to hear the concert. How nice is that to sit in the park on a summer evening and listern to the Coronation Concert. Not quite as nice as being inside those famous gates though.
