This is a perfect location for a special celebration so it was a lovely birthday treat. Great staff looked after by Paul, we were greeted and shown to our table just by one of the windows overlooking the harbour.
You must try the garlic mushrooms – absolutely delicious in a rich, creamy sauce with Gruyere cheese. You could have these as a starter then a main course they are so good! Leslie had the special of scallops and these too were cooked to perfection. Although I am not vegetarian, the vegetable and cheese strudel was an excellent choice served with a side salad and tiny sautéed potatoes. Just as good was the special of Sea Bass.
We don’t normally go for all three courses, but we made a sacrifice this time. The Cellar version of Eton Mess is what you would expect, lovely fluffy meringue, thick cream and raspberries stacked lovingly, and the Crème Brulee with fruit compote was another winner. So, it is definitely not a dieter’s meal, but a treat every now and then. Always a great choice if you are in the area, although it is better to book ahead for an evening meal.
