Have just returned from Helmsley staying at the Carlton Lodge Hotel. We have never known such hospitality and friendliness. Our room was on the front and overlooked the garden, everywhere was lovely and warm and beds very comfy. The breakfasts were really something and set us up for the rest of the day, but the best thing of all was Chris the owner – nothing was too much for him and he was full of fun. We could walk into the town so didn't need to drive and Helmsley is in easy reach of many lovely country and coastal villages. Definitely worth a visit.
