We visited the restaurant here for a snack and were pleased to be shown around The Bunk House accommodation they offer. It is an old building recently renovated and beautifully decorated to act as group accommodation such as canoeists, family groups, celebration parties. Equipment is stored downstairs, as this is all part of the Canoe Centre on the bridge at the River Wye, with a large lunge and kitchen upstairs plus sleeping accommodation.
One double bed is partitioned off, and the rest is made up of bunks which are surprisingly private as each pair is enclosed with wooden panels. Two very big shower rooms are also provided. We loved the metal chute that provides a speedy descent to ground floor if you don’t want to bother with the stairs! With self-catering facilities incorporated but the café/restaurant also next door, this is an ideal place to gather with friends or family – for example, a family is booked to stay overnight on New Year’s Eve. They also have traditional B&B accommodation available above the restaurant, but we liked the concept of the Bunk House.
