Christmas present from last year – 2 nights in a highly recommended hotel with fine dining in Bridport West Dorset ,an area of outstanding Natural Beauty (correct,) in a town likened in a recent review to Notting Hill by sea (incorrect).
High Street position so the usual young drunks on the Saturday night, but the window glazing kept sound levels low, and the room itself very tastefully furbished, georgeous brass bed, antique sofa, modern en suite etc.
Enthusasticand friendly young service, although stretched at breakfasts, and yes, the evening meal taken in the restaurant was very good, and so it may seem churlish to criticise the over generous portions which were a little off putting especially for my partner who was a little taken aback when confronted by an enormous fish pie. Both restaurant and hotel full, so lively atmosphere, and pleased the place doing well.
Superb walking along the Dorset Coastal Path nearby, with magnificent scenery, and some fine old buildings in the town, and a good Saturday morning market.
Would we go back? Well, yes, but there are other places to try out first.
