Genuinely old and historic family run hotel on the beautiful high street of this chocolate box Cotswolds village. A very friendly welcome and really professional waiting staff in the restaurant area. We got a great deal on a discount travel site, but they also have great offers you can get directly from their website, with packages including evening meal, Sunday lunch, midweek breaks etc. The room we had was small, but in was in keeping with the antique nature of the building overall, which is cosy and historic, and there was plenty to do in the area so we were out and about most of the time anyway. Plus we had a four poster bed and a proper bath, so enough luxury for a one night stay! Dinner was great – delicious menu and healthier options including fresh fish of the day. Breakfast was faultless, with their own muesli mix on offer among almost everything you can imagine at breakfast. Would definitely visit again, as there is plenty of variety of areas to relax, eat and drink, including a bar area, and a small residents’ lounge. Limited parking on site, but lots of free parking on the street outside and a free car park in the village. The village also boasts a priory, museum, tourist information (also very friendly) and walks from outside the door of the hotel towards Little and Great Barrington. Great base for visiting The Cotswolds and Oxford.
