“Friendliest hotel staff ever.”:http://www.doylecollection.com/TheBristol/officialsite
Needing a well earned break from hectic work commitments, and after seeing on TV the news that a new Isambard Kingdom Brunel exhibition had opened in Bristol, alongside the SS Great Britain, my wife and myself decided it looked interesting and just the kind of distraction we needed. The hunt for a reasonably priced hotel was on. We remembered that we stayed at The Bristol nine years ago for a special birthday with our family so thought it would be worth trying it again. We couldn’t have made a better choice. The position of the hotel is perfect, city centre but on the river so ideal to catch the river taxi. . From check-in with Javier who, because our room wasn’t ready as we were early, promptly upgraded us to a superior room at no extra charge. That was just the beginning. After taking our bags to our room, a lovely lady from housekeeping knocked our door and asked if we were comfortable and was there anything we needed. We ate at the in-house restaurant our first night which again was great. The food was very good and reasonably priced, and our waitresses were so friendly and polite. Same for Candela who served us later in the bar. We have never stayed anywhere where every member of staff bent over backwards to be helpful, giving us maps and details of things to do and see from theatres, exhibitions, sight seeing on the open-top bus or river boat, coffee shops and restaurants. Concord is on display in nearby Filton. Plenty to keep children occupied as there is an aquarium and planetarium too. Not only were the hotel staff great but everyone else we had dealings with were so friendly. One of the best city breaks we’ve ever been on, and we can thoroughly recommend it. We will definitely be back as there were still lots we didn’t have time to do on our two night stay. Can’t wait.
