The Bedstay is a restored traditional cosy wooden cabin, 10 minutes tram ride from the centre of Amsterdam. The tram stop is just a few minutes quiet walk to to the ‘artists garden’ where the cabin is sited.

On arrival it’s a bit of a shock to see what first looks like a yard full of junk, but don’t be put off because all over the site are works of art and lovingly restored traditional wooden caravans.

The Bedstay itself is deceptively roomy inside and the owner Christine leaves an array of goodies inside, from wine and chocolate to proper coffee. The floors are solid wood and she provides hand made sheepskin slippers to wear during your stay.
I don’t generally sleep well, but the bed in The Bedstay is set in a recess built into the wall, and is incredibly cosy and comfortable, and I slept solid for nearly 10 hours!!
The bathroom is small but the shower is roomy, powerful and hot. Shower gel and shampoo is provided.

Christine is a lovely lady, very friendly, and asked for suggestions of anything we felt we needed in addition to everything she already provided. We couldn’t think of anything as we had a really lovely relaxing stay. It was nice to leave the bustle of Amsterdam for a little bit of calm, but liked that it was only a few minutes away.

We didn’t have time to explore the area around the accommodation, but it’s next to a river filled with boats and houseboats, and if we go again we’d definitely have a look around.
