My husband and I stayed with two friends at The Bear of Rodborough Hotel in Gloucestershire. This is a lovely hotel where the staff are very friendly and helpful about things to do in the area etc and nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfasts are gorgeous with freshly cooked food from a large selection of hot choices as well as fruit and cereal, yoghurt, pastries etc. It's just as well there are some good walks nearby! We also had their cream tea one afternoon and it was amazing with lots of clotted cream and jam for the scones,. The bedrooms are well appointed with tea and coffee and comfy bed as well as chairs to sit in while reading the paper or watching tv. We ate dinner in the restaurant one night and it was very good with quick and efficient service. We have stayed in this hotel about 4 years ago and it is just as good now as it was then – well done to the Bear!
