The imposing building containing the Balmoral Hotel is situated at Edinburgh's most prestigious address of 1, Princes Street. Most conveniently positioned next to Waverley Station and at the start of Scotland's premier shopping area, this five star retreat has staff to match and customers are made to feel like royalty, such is the personal attention experienced. Every comfort is provided, from huge fluffy towels and dressing gowns to hand picked fruit in the rooms. Especially inviting and also of excellent quality is the Spa and pool area. The friendly staff are experts in their field and provide an escape from the hurley burley of the shops. Afternoon tea has to be seen to be believed, and is a wonderful and indulgent treat. The food generally is also top class whether you choose the Michelin starred restaurant or the quality bistro, it doesn't matter. We were sorry to leave and can't wait to return.
