My adult daughter and I spent a very peaceful week here in Vale. A delightful part of Guernsey. Near enough to amenities but far enough away from the madding crowd to relax.
Four self catering terraced cottages on converted farm. We stayed in The Stable. Very comfortable and well furnished. Only downside is that three of the cottages have an adjoining metal staircase and my daughter, in single room, was frequently disturbed by other guests clattering up and down the staircase to garden and outdoor spa. There was also a flat above where little feet could be heard running around!
Also, the garden table and chairs for cottage next door were directly outside her bedroom window. This was not a problem to us but could have been had we had inconsiderate guests next door.
If you can cope with these aspects of communal space it really is a lovely spot to stay.
There are two communal gardens opposite, one housing the spa (bliss at the end of the day!) and the other, a bbq and children’s play area.
The Stable has it’s own pretty herb garden. Probably the nicest private garden as a sun trap. We were allowed to pick the herbs but had to be careful as lots of broken glass around herbs. To deter slugs maybe?
The owners are very helpful people and will happily buy some shopping in for guests. A welcome tray of tea/coffee/milk/wine/ cake is provided. A nice touch.
Guernsey is full of ‘hedge veg’ and, indeed, the farm has it’s own box in hedge of freshly picked home grown veg and salad. We bought daily from here.
We didn’t hire a car but used the buses, five minutes walk away, as were the shops.”for information and photo’s”:http://www.tertrefarmholidayhomes.com/
