We've just returned from a Monday – Friday break to Benidorm, flying Flybe from our local Southampton Aiport to Alicante, staying self-catering in Benidorm and we loved it. As the name suggests it is up a hill , about 10- 15 minute walk to the Old Town, but the bus runs hourly (1 euro 40c ) single from outside the apartments.
The accommodation was air conditioned, immaculate, had towels, hair dryer, toaster, very spacious with a lovely balcony. There were two pools, one covered adult only with jacuzzi with its own green shady area, as well as the large open air.
But the great thing for me was wifi everywhere, so you saw loads of ipads, kindles being used and read, and when it was too hot we could retire to our apartment and go on the net. The cost was only 20 euros for the week.
They have a facebook page and the owner answered all my questions in advance.
Loved it.
