Reasons for trip

After a full day, I was shattered but had a dinner reservation for 7.30pm at “Terminal”:https://terminalrestaurant.hu/.

Formerly a bus garage, it’s a cavernous place and with seating for 120, it’s the sort of place I’d normally avoid. My heart sank when I was seated opposite a table of 24 Americans who’d just arrived before me.

I decided a reviving G&T was called for whilst perusing the relatively short “menu”:http://terminalrestaurant.hu/en/menu. Having being around food all day, I wasn’t terribly hungry and certainly couldn’t face the crispy pigs’ trotters. I chose what I hoped would be relatively light options of stuffed paprika (which I assumed correctly was a pepper), followed by Caesar salad with shrimp.

I ordered wine by the glass and had three throughout the meal which may seem greedy, but glass sizes as I discovered, are usually only 100ml. So the three made up just over a large 250ml glass at home. I rather liked the smaller size and am sure it makes you enjoy the wine more and drink less. At 550 HUF a glass or £1.40, it’s also pretty cheap.

A complimentary smoked salmon mousse with bruschetta was very good. My pepper was equally delicious: stuffed with well-seasoned pork sausage meat and sitting in a smooth tomato sauce.

What were described as shrimps, were huge shelled prawns sat on a bed of lettuce with a tasty dressing and croutons. It was perfect and just what I needed.

Despite my concerns about my order being lost amongst that of the large group, the young girl who served me was excellent and kept checking I was ok.

With reasonable prices, good food and a large outside terrace on the attractive, central Erzebet Square, I can see it being very popular in summer.
