A truly beautiful hotel on a glorious island. This 5 star hotel boasts a 2 Michelin star restaurant (Il Mosaico)and a sensational spa. The rooms (even the cheapest) are beautifully decorated and have a large en-suite and balcony. The rooms are cleaned daily and in the evening beds turned down and replenished again.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. On arrival a brief tour of the hotel is given whilst luggage is taken to your room. The vastness of the reception area and lounge is overwhelming and the decor (mainly tiling) breathtaking.
The rooftop pool and relaxing areas fabulous views of the mountains and over the rooftops to the sea beyond. The spa, located on the ground floor, offers a second pool with body jets, steam room, sauna and relaxation areas. A whole host of treatments are available at various costs.
The breakfast was amazing offering everything from cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit (the figs were delicious as were the plums), meats, cheeses, cooked sausages, eggs etc., cakes, breads, croissants, fruit juices, tea, coffee and even proseco. This is served either in the restaurant or on the terrace outside. The restaurant is a bit expensive but then this is to be expect with the 2 star rating it has.
The hotel provides a shuttle bus into the town and to the ferry ports, this is free but hours are restricted. It is about a kilometer to the town where other restaurants can be found and a good selection of shops. The journey is downhill, so uphill to return but is a relatively gentle slope, although pavements a bit uneven. They will also arrange transport (including ferry) from Naples airport to the hotel for 145 Euros each way.
We had no difficulty with the language as the reception staff and always at least one person in the restaurant spoke English. At all times we were acknowledged by the staff in a warm and friendly manner.
Any issues were dealt with immediately ( I needed a smaller size pair of flip flops for the spa and these were brought to our room within minutes).
The hotel is suitable for all ages although the majority of guests we saw during our stay were under 50. There are lifts to all floors and an outside lift that goes from the rooftop to the spa from all levels.
To sum up this is a fantastic hotel, deserving of it's 5 star rating. Expensive ( a bit ), although deals can be found but be wary of prices within the hotel for spa treatments (not to bad) but food and drink could add a considerable sum to your stay if you wish to eat at the hotel. The restaurant is well used by both guests and general public and is so popular that booking is recommended. Don't let this put you off staying as cheaper meals can be found in the town.
