Our holiday was recommended by Tropical Sky, who are very knowledgeable and have always offered excellent advice, being helpful with flights and budgets. The Tamarind Cove Hotel is a good 4*, with spacious rooms and traditional Carribean décor. The beach is quite narrow, but beautiful, a glorious warm sea and the perfect spot for watching amazing sunsets. The range of water sports is good, I enjoyed a couple of free half hours on a Hobie cat, with instructor, to brush up my limited sailing skills. An absolute must is trip out on one of many boats to swim with turtles in the wild, it is totally awesome and I so look forward to doing it again! the snorkling is good too, lots to see under the water. Many visitors, of all antionalities, return to the Tamarind cove every year, we’ve been back twice at Easter which seems the perfect time. The buffet breakfasts are varied and tasty, with fresh omlettes and pancakes always available, along with interesting local dishes to try. The restaurant evening meals are delicious, and the hotel is next door to Daphne’s, excellent, and sometimes host to visiting celebs. Meals out can be expensive, especially at the famous haunts, however we asked around, and found several reasonable places just a walk or bus ride away. Do try a bus, for local colour, nothing beats a trip to Holetown on a reggae bus!

The Tamarind Cove has very helpful staff, we sent and received faxes with the minimum of fuss, and organised an impromtu business meeting easily. The atmosphere is laid back, although long trousers for men and ‘proper’ shoes for all are required in the evening in the restaurants. The hotel’s location is great for visiting many of the island’s beauty spots, we really enjoyed a polo match at the Lion Castle Estate and the wild east coast too.
