What a lovely little town. Visited just before Xmas and the town was festooned with seasonal lights. Looked like a little Venice with the river running through the town. Charming restaurant / bookshop – The Strand. And lovely local walks, through the meandering nature reserve in the town itself, or nearby Llanelieu’s medieval church, or the Black Mountains gliding club. All round, an excellent spot.
Update: Thanks for the comments. Talgarth has a website http://www.visittalgarth.co.uk/ We did not visit the church there, but I did hear it had plenty of history, and a well known church leader was buried there and thousands came to the funeral. You would need half a day to visit the town – you can walk across it and see everything in an hour, and then allow time to visit the mill, pop in to the friendly shops, and the church. Llanelieu is about 10 mins drive outside. Food at the Strand is quite homely but very friendly service. Fun in the daytime / afternoon and with kids. Excellent food at Felin Fach Griffin about 15 mins outside of town toward Brecon. http://www.eatdrinksleep.ltd.uk/ . Loved the place and have been boring people about it since my return!!
