The Swanage Railway runs from Swanage to Wareham where there is a link to South West Trains with a number of stations enroute including Harman’s Cross and Corfe Castle. Once part of the Southern Railway it has been rescued by preservation volunteers and now has a regular service with mainly Southern stock and locomotives and many preserved visiting locomotives from other preservation societies. The views along the Railway of the Isle of Purbeck are outstanding and seaside Swanage and Corfe
Castle are built in local stone are well worth a visit. Corfe Castle part ruin guards the gap in the steep chalk hills to North and South above the Railway line. A visit to this part of Dorset has many interesting places to explore and the Swanage Railway provides an opportunity to experience steam powered rail travel in delightful countryside.
