Celebrating 50 years as a group, you are not really sure how these “mature” singers are going to perform! No need to worry – these are four very fit guys still with fantastic voices and enough stamina to put on a brilliant show. All your favourite songs over a full one-and-a-half performance, including their love songs and disco tunes.
This is the first one we have been to where they ask you to sing along with any and all of the songs, rather than just a chorus here and there – and where there was no restriction on taking photographs with your phone. Not sure about the ethical (or legal) position of the person in front who recorded most of it and was clearly posting it live online.
The Stylistics orchestra/backing group were excellent and a perfect support throughout. Only two of the four are original members (now aged 69!) but this didn’t change the overall sounds. The whole audience was up, singing and clapping and enjoying every minute of it. It was a packed house across all ages in Stockport, in a lovely Art Deco theatre. Still on tour, so do go to see them if you have a chance.
