It was difficult to select the accommodation type for the Stuart Rooms – it is actually only rooms, no breakfast is supplied, so I couldn’t really call it a hotel… The room we stayed in was fairly small, but very nicely furnished. Attention to detail made this a perfect overnight stay – there was a little bottle of ‘Alice in Wonderland Drink Me’ port and a pack of mixed shortbread and millionaire’s shortbread provided which was delicious. Each room has a Nespresso machine and TeaPig teabags. Coffee is also served downstairs in the mornings if you would like it. The bed was extremely comfortable, although the pillows were large and hard, which meant I only used the corner of mine. The bathroom was lovely, although there were no handles on the outside of the door, which made it a bit tricky to get in to! We had an upstairs room, please be warned, the stairs are very steep and curved – so if you have wonky knees like mine it might be best to ask for a ground floor room. Our room overlooked a lovely little courtyard, perfect for sitting outside and listening to the birds. Breakfast is not provided, but there are lots of cafes in Stow. We ate at the cafe opposite as it was convenient but there are nicer places if you look for them.
Parking is free in Stow for two hours but also free after 6pm, so you can park until 11am the next day if you arrive in the evening.
Top Tip – visit Crocks on the same street – lots of bargain china – a real treasure trove! 🙂
