Sat within the Death Valley National Park, this place is quite literally in the middle of nowhere. So it was a pleasant surprise to enter our room off the patio (No.5) and find reasonably pleasant and well equipped accommodation. The MGM Grand it is not, but it’s clean, quite spacious and has all the facilities that you require for a stay in……the middle of nowhere. The AC is mercifully efficient, it was 43C outside, if a little noisy and quickly cooled the room down to a refreshing temperature. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet (apart from the AC) and we had a good restful nights sleep.
Staff are very friendly, helpful and informative and we spurned an offer of a dip in the pool for a shower and an early dinner. Dinner was served in the Saloon that night (rather than the diner) and Kimberly was a pleasant and ultra energetic waitress (who made the energiser bunny look lazy). She helped us with our meal and drink selection, also keeping us hydrated with iced water. There’s a good menu selection and the chicken and ribs were perfect. Probably a little pricy but not outrageous. Breakfast was in the diner, buffet style and frankly mediocre. For 13:50 USD I would have expected a better selection.
Overall this place is great. Views out to the desert, the sand dunes are close by and a great place to rest up after a tiring day exploring Death Valley.
