Reasons for trip

The gardens are magical with a beautiful lake and classical buildings. The grotto is interesting and offers a lovely view of the lake. The lakeside walk is best if you only have a short time to spend but if you can spare a couple of days, head out on the walks that take you into the wider park and woods. The walk up to Whitesheet hill is fantastic and gives great views of the area. Maps can be bought in the National Trust shop. On site is a cafe and shop and also a non National Trust farm shop which is very good. There is also a pub which serves meals and has accommodation in Stourton. For caravanners there is a CL at the end of the main car park.
