A beautiful Georgian house on the shores of Windermere, Storrs Hall is imposing but not intimidating. The bedrooms are large but cosy with enormous comfortable beds – ours was 7ft across. Every member of staff we met was friendly and courteous without being obsequious and the service was excellent. All our meals were marvellous and luckily for me there is a comprehensive vegetarian menu. Set just south of Bowness-on-Windermere, Storr's Hall is very convenient for all the delights of the Lake District and the ferry across the lake is just 50p for pedestrians, making Claife Heights and other lovely walks easily accessible.
