Reasons for trip

We were staying in Prague for 2 weeks and looking for a few things to do, so we booked a concert in St George's Basilica at Prague Castle via Prague Experience (www.pragueexperience.com) before leaving the UK.

The concert was at 16:30 on a very cold and wet November Sunday. The castle buildings close to the public at 16:00 in the winter, but there were still a lot of people milling around in the grounds. We got entry to the basilica at about 16:20, there were only about 40-50 in the audience for the concert.

The musicians (5 plus a soprano) duly arrived and started promptly; the concert lasted 70 minutes, as billed. The programme comprised 11 well known and loved classic pieces for strings or voice, e.g. Dvorjac's Slavonic Dances, Pachelbel's Canon in D, Brahs Hungarian Dances and Mozart's Alleluju done by a single soprano (wonderful!). The quality was superb, both the musicians and the soprano, and the setting spectacular.

We left the basilica warmed by the music, it was now dark and St Vitus Cathedral was beautifully lit. We headed down the hill back towrds the Charles Bridge.

An exceptional concert due to the quality and the setting. A highly recommended event.
