I last visited St Andrews’ Castle Last November, I had a beautiful Sunny Day but with a cold wind, if you are a Scottish resident you can get free tickets for ( applied for) over the St Andrews’ day weekend ( through Historic Scotland).
I loved the visit to the historic castle that was original home to the Bishops of St Andrews.
During its 450 year old history it has been Bishop’s palace, then a fortress and later a prison.
The castle is in a lovely position on a headland that juts over the sea. The main entrance that survives was built in the 1500’s and is very impressive.
Well worth a visit if you are up in Fife, easy walk from the town, and shops.
