Had a wonderful afternoon recently at the ss Great Britain, a former passenger steamship built in the 1840s by Brunel. It has been excellently restored and you can walk on the deck, inside the ship (cabins, ballroom, etc all very well reconstructed) and underneath the ship (it is in a dry dock) to see the propellor etc. See photos! There was too much to see in an afternoon, and we will be back with our next set of visitors. The setting is also fabulous, on the harbourside of Bristol with its many cafes and bars, walks, colourful houses, marina, bridges and other interesting ships old and new, such as The Matthew. Incredible to find out the history and the stories associated with the ss Great Britain. Thoroughly recommend this museum and all its facilities. I believe the exhibits will be extended in the new year so there will be more to see.
