We had four days at the appropriately named Squirrel Cottage in Killiecrankie earlier this month as a birthday treat for me and it was a real treat!
The cottage, which only take two, was the best kitted out of any I have been to, the owners were welcoming and helpful with a very nice welcome pack of edible goodies for our arrival, even chocolate and sparkling water in the bedroom. A nice living room with good TV, DVD and even a nestbox camera! also a fab conservatory were we had breakfast and could watch the antics of the delightful red squirrels together with woodpeckers, pheasants and large flocks of coal tits and other birds.
A large well fitted out bedroom with a big window with one way film on it so we could watch birds etc from the bed. One the last morning we were treated to the sight of a pine marten so feel we have joined a very exclusive club.
Location also good, just 3 miles from Pitlochry with its theatre and restuarants and easy to get onto the main road to Perth, Inverness etc. For those of you who like me are also into antiques I can recommend nearby Aberfeldy .
A really enjoyable break.
