The iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth was built for the year 2000. It is a beautiful building in it's own right, but it is also in the middle of the interesting Portsmouth Harbour. The lift takes you up to the bottom section of the tower, in the first place. It is a good idea not to go too far up until you get an idea of the height. It is all enclosed and feels quite safe. The views from up there are fantastic, you can see across to the Isle of Wight, all over the harbour and inland towards Cosham. If you visit during the day, stay until after dark to see the stunning tower lit at night. It really is beautiful. You can buy joint tickets to the tower and the historic dockyard (see another of my reviews) and you will have a wonderful time. It is not the cheapest of attractions, but it is a worthwhile trip.
