We recently tried “Spice’n’Ice”:http://www.spicenicesarnia.com/menu.html, an Indian restaurant, in Sarnia, Ontario. My aunt heard about it from a friend of hers so we decided to give it a try.
As soon as we entered, I knew by the aroma of the spices it was going to be a good experience. It was early and no one else was there yet but within a few minutes the tables started to fill up and walk-ins were arriving for pick up orders; another good sign. The restaurant is behind a CAA shop so does not stand out on the street and there is plenty of parking.
We ordered vegetable pakoras ($7) for a starter to share and they were delicious. Served in a long dish, there were eight along with some tamarind sauce. For our mains, my aunt had the butter chicken ($16) and Basmati rice ($3) and I ordered the lamb biryani ($18). Both were very tasty and generous portions so we had plenty left to take home for another meal or two. The wine list is small but appropriate to go with the food. It’s the first Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Sarnia and we’ll definitely be back. The service was prompt and friendly.
