Reasons for trip

This is a very picturesque National Trust property, on the edge of Liverpool, and is well worth a visit. The house is lovely to look at, but the rooms are quite small, and to be honest once you’ve seen inside one of these houses, they tend to be a bit samey.

The gardens are lovely, without being spectacular. There is a maze, a woodland walk, a play area, and a kitchen garden.

It will cost you a tenner to get in, and parking is free.
