Reasons for trip

Personal / family celebration

This was a wonderful place to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Annivesary. It’s a friendly boutique hotel newly refurbished. The rooms are extremely well ordered and comfortable. The food was excellent and the dining room well arranged to take full advantage of the sea views. Stepping out of the dining room puts you right on the South Sands beach which is one of the coves along the coastline from Hope Cove to Salcombe. Bear in mind that South Sands is a tiny place and you need to be mobile if you don’t want to just sit and chill. There is an alternative restaurant (that we didn’t try) and there is a hotel shuttle to take you there. The shuttle would also take you into Salcombe (at a cost).

On a personal note we can’t thank the hotel enough for the wonderful reception when they found out it was our Anniversary. They made it very special for us.

One small point is to mention that when driving follow the signs to Salcombe until you pick up the South Sands signs. Tom Tom took us down the most difficult one track lanes (with grass growing up the middle) and goodness knows what we would have done if we’d met anything coming the other way.
