Reasons for trip

I went to a Valentine's Ball as a solo with 69 other solos, plus 2 from the Solos Team. Dress Code was black tie, cocktail dresses and a touch of red. Not everyone followed the code – some without a hint of even a red hanky – but it was a smart event. And a friendly event. Some people were meeting up with folk from previous Solo Balls, or from shared Solo holidays. Others, like me, were newbies. Not a problem as the overarching idea is to have a great night out in a great venue and meet new people along the way. There was lots of time for chat over the welcome drink and topnotch meal. The men had to leap up and change tables after each course so lots of different chat. And then the disco and flashing lights began – it was serious dance time. And there was a tried and tested system for lots of joining in if you wanted to – everyone had a dance card for 6 of the early dances – it all worked well. It's a good night out and you meet an interesting crowd. A tip if you want to go – the ladies' tickets go early and you might be on a waiting list. The men seem to get away with making their bookings nearer the date. Not sure how long that will last.
