Can you recall the Famous Five stories? Devon – rolling hillsides, a patchwork of fields, narrow country lanes, high hedges – all leading down to secret coves and tiny beaches by the sea? Soar Mill Cove is exactly like that!
We bought a deal on Travelzoo for a champagne afternoon tea, with use of the pool and sauna, for £25 per person. Given its location, the hotel there wasn’t easy to get to and you would never have come across it by accident, but it was worth the trip. Set on a secluded hillside above a beautiful cove, it was idyllic. Ideal for walking especially, as it’s on the south-west coastal path. And the afternoon tea was delicious! An additional surprise was that at this hotel, they actually make their own premium gin. We made the mistake of asking for a taste – and came home with a bottle which we are enjoying very much!
