Spent a wonderful day out yesterday at Skipton Castle. The weather was glorious and the castle had the added attraction of a Medieval Life re-enactment, which was led by Tournee Re-enactors. We saw how the Lords of the Manor entertained, how the knights donned their armour, how they trained to fight. There was also a bowman practising his skills on the green in front of the castle.
The castle is titled ‘A castle jewel of the north’. You get a wonderful sheet to guide you around the many rooms in the castle, detailing the history etc. Accessibility is not too difficult, you have to climb a few ancient stone staircase to visit some of the rooms.
The cost of £8.50 for adults and £7.40 for over 60’s and students, children 5-1 £5.30, under 5’s are free, or you could get a family ticket (2 adults and up to 3 children under 18) for £27.20.
