Reasons for trip

A new eating concept has arrived in the UK in the form of a healthy eating but NOT vegetarian-only restaurant. This means that all the emphasis is on low-carb, good quality food that uses ingredients like seeds, nuts, vegetables and fruits in place of stodgy bread, pasta, white flour or sugar.

The menu, in the form of a nice little booklet, is long and covers everything from waffles and pancakes to pizzas, chicken and beef plates, burgers, protein shakes and smoothies, wraps and a few veggy-based puddings. They also serve unusual drinks including cucumber-infused water (delicious) and green tea.

Our party of four had eggs and bacon waffles, a vegetarian pizza, meat and chicken “build up” and a pulse and nut burger with mint humus and sweet potato fries.

Costs are middle of the price range e.g. £8 – £12 for main meals, and portions are adequate but perhaps not quite large enough.

As the restaurant had only been open a few days, the main drawback was a very long wait (one hour!) for our food, but hopefully things will improve once the team is fully up to speed. It is a cafe more than restaurant, with hard tables and chairs, but everything is clean and fresh looking and the selling point is the very unusual range of dishes on offer than you won’t find anywhere else.
