We took two children aged 3 and 5 to the Shrek experience on the Southbank in London. It is one of the Merlin attractions located there, others include the London Eye, London Aquarium and London Dungeons.
If you have a Merlin Annual Pass these experiences can be really good value, you could get a whole day out going from one to another. We did not have an annual pass and simply booked online. We paid £65 for two adults and two children aged 3 and 5. That is a lot of money and something we hoped would be a lovely experience for the kids.
It is not suitable for under 5`s but does not say this, the three year old was terrified of the witches and `spooky` creatures flying about in the 4D experience. This lasts about 5 minutes and is good but not for young children.
There is a lot of standing about and walking through narrow passageway to the next room. It is very dark, which is scary for young kids. Most of what the actors say is over the kids heads.
Shrek eventually shows up at the end but you can`t take your own photos of him, only the `official` photos.
To be honest it is boring and certainly not worth the price. It lasts just over an hour and you can buy an official book and photo for £25! or just the photo for £9.
There is an area to take your own photo at the the end but not with Shrek or any of the other characters.
