Reasons for trip

My husband and I took our 3 grandchildren to the Easter Egg Hunt at Sewerby Hall located on the clifftops between Bridlington and Flamborough. This grade 1 listed Georgian House and its 50 acres of land has some of the best views along the East Yorkshire coastland. The formal gardens and park play host to a number of events during the year for visitors. The Easter Egg Hunt took part in the formal gardens around the house. The Easter bunny was about to make balloon animals etc which our 5 year old grandson and 2 year old grand daughter loved. We had collected our clue sheet from the entrance and off we went to explore. Clues were hidden around the gardens on trees, in the buildings on fences and walls. We all strolled about in the sunshine hunting for them.

The gardens are delightful, I liked the Rose garden with its red brick walls and formal style. Once we had found all the clues and answered all the questions we went to the small shop set just inside the house for the children's reward, a small easter egg each. The children's zoo was next, the children loved this with everything from small rabbits to penguins, llama, monkeys and some rare breed farm animals. There are two playground areas for younger and older children too. We had a lovely afternoon and the views are stunning. There is a golf course in the park, tearoom, small selection of craft shops and plenty of parking or you could take the Landtrain up from Bridlington's North Bay and enjoy the views. Out of the school holidays it's a quiet place, somewhere to unwind and the house is full of interest with memorabilia from the famous flyer Amy Johnson. The estate also has holiday cottages for those who would like to stay and explore this lovely part of East Yorkshire.
