The Severn Valley Railway hosts many events throughout the year. One such event this August was a weekend to showcase not only steam on the rails but steam on the road. A special gathering was arranged at Kidderminster Station with a variety of vehicles from steamrollers, traction engines and steam wagons. The vehicles were in beautiful condition surrounded by admiring men in boiler suits and happy snappers just like me.
The SVR is always worth a visit, even if you are not a genuine enthusiast, it has that nostalgic feel and the smell of coal-fired engines. Of course, there is also a good pub at either end of the journey!
