A new way to encourage us to visit the cinema during the day – Theatr Hafren in Newtown, mid-Wales offered £4 tickets to watch an afternoon screening of SPY, including tea and cake from 1.30pm. Even better, you can take your cuppa into the theatre with you so as not to miss the titles!

Mind you, the spoof take on James Bond (the handsome Jude Law) was spoiled by Jason Statham’s character whose sentences were made up primarily of expletives. There are some funny slap-stick moments, especially Melissa McCarthy taking on the unlikely role of undercover agent in the field with Miranda Hart being, well.. Miranda Hart, as support.

Overall, it was amusing and a great way to spend an afternoon, but for us, it was spoiled by the unnecessarily prolific swearing of the character. Oh yes, and the very close up shot of another agent’s selfie of his manhood!
