Walking at weekends in Scottish Borders and visiting Selkirk, Melrose, Jedburgh, Duns, Galashiels, Peebles and Hawick. Lovely towns, great visitor attractions, great area fr walking days out as well as historic houses/gardens and great places to eat or to buy local produce from for a picnic. Safe and friendly region for solo female walkers. For information on visitor attractions or events visitscotland website is very useful for walk route suggestions and checking what there is to see in local towns before travelling. It is the 250th anniversary of birth Sir Walter Scott 2021-22 and Scotland’s year of stories in 2022 so a great time to explore Scottish Borders and making the most of beautiful landscape and heritage that has inspired so many writers, artists, musicians and poets in this lovely region in South of Scotland. Have just spent a great weekend on a guided foraging/walking day hosted by the very lovely team at cowbog farm near Morebattle in Scottish Borders. Such a treat for the group to have an expert foraging guide Lisa Cutcliffe on hand and we had a superb dining experience in the evening. Scottish Borders is fantastic for silver travellers who enjoy getting out and about walking, cycling and sightseeing on short breaks, and for day trips.
