This is so much more than just a walled garden. The gardens are designed by Piet Oudolf, and are incredible. There is a real sense of tranquillity as you stroll round the beautifully laid out meadows and formal areas. These gardens are best seen on a warm summer's day. There is a charming café, where you can sit outside if you choose, and immaculate toilets, with Molton Brown hand lotion, and moisturiser, even in the gents! You must do The Cascade Walk while you are here. This is a delightful stroll around the lakes, where you can truly enjoy the full effect of the landscape. You might even see herons and kingfishers here. We didn't but saw lots of common blue damselflies, six-spot burnet moths, and meadow brown butterflies. Absolutely delightful.
