We arrived at the Pitton Cross to be greeted by the camp supervisor who was very
helpful and made sure we were comfortable in our Timber Tent. A Timber Tent is actually a small chalet with a timber covered porch with optional tent flaps to be removed or kept onduring inclement weather. It even has a heat lamp for those cold days. The porch is where the kitchen and amenities are for breakfast including table and chairs.
The bedroom is through the secured door including two double beds in bunk style with storage underneath for luggage. There is a luxury camper package also for 6 people instead of 4 with the option for extra guests to pitch their tent in the camp ground nearby.
Our Timber Tent for 4 people was situated in the Glamping Gypsy Caravan Park a few minutes walk from the Showers and Toilets and camp shop and very close to the play ground. There is also an off license and convenience shop in Scurlage a few miles away.
It is surrounded by peaceful countryside and pastures. The closest beach is a
about 1/2 mile walk from the camp site. The buses run past the front of the camp site and there is a bus stop. Bus time tables are provided at the tourist information bureau. Rhossily Bay is about 2 1/2 miles from the camp site by car.
I found the Caravan Park Staff very helpful and the site quiet and peaceful at this time of year. I would rate it 5 stars for comfort and ease to find and access to local tourist attractions and the beach on The Gower. I have already booked my return same time next year!
