Reasons for trip

Sapporo Beer Garden (also known as Sapporo Beer Museum) is the place all Sapporo people will recommend. It is famous for the ‘Genghis Khan’ dish which is fine slices of lamb which you cook on a grill on your table, together with some vegetables.

This place has several different kinds of restaurants to cater for different price range.
I chose to go to the most expensive one, 6,000yen per person for all you can eat and one drink.

The first thing you see when you approach this place is the long chimney with Sapporo Beer Garden written in Japanese. Next, a very strong smell of lamb will assault your nose.

The all-you-can-eat is an inside restaurant, a huge room that could probably sit around 100. It was a hot day and the smell of lamb was a bit over powering inside. This is not buffet style, you have to place your order. The menu is vast – Genghis Khan, crab, sushi, noodles, pizza, etc. For that price, we stuck to the lamb, crab and sushi. The lamb is very fine and tender and does not have a strong animal taste, so very easy to eat even if you are not a lamb fan.

If it’s a fine day it might be best to eat outdoors where the menu has a choice of dishes at a very reasonable price.

The staff are polite and professional at all times.

There is a beer museum, but I didn’t visit.

If you are in Sapporo, it is worth a visit as it is a famous Sapporo landmark.
