This is on the edge of the town at the foot of the mountains. There is a gate across the road with a security man controlling entry.

It is a large and elegant building with reception area with sitting area off and bar. There are a lot of old photographs on the walls especially about WW2. There is a swimming pool with restaurant beside it which has inside and outside tables. There is a small shop selling post cards, long scarves and a few craft items.

Reception staff spoke some English, as long as you didn't ask anything too complicated.

The rooms are in small houses scattered around the grounds. They are reached by narrow paths with shrubs, trees and flowers. The 500 numbered rooms are at top of site and a long walk from the restaurant.

We were in a building with three separate rooms and had been given an enormous suite. The majority of rooms are smaller and don’t have a sitting room.

Inside the doorway was a lobby with space for suitcases and hanging area. Off to the right was a large sitting area with TV and Minibar and an open fire place. The table was set with plates, knives, serviettes, wine glasses and half a bottle of Tunisian wine. It was decorated with flowers and bunches of scented Artemesia. We had a huge bedroom across the hall with marble floor. It was a king size bed which was comfortable and had two bedside tables and lights. The bathroom and toilet were off the hall. Toiletries were supplied and we had two bath towels, two hand towels and two generous sized bath robes.

There was a knock on the door soon after we arrive and we were presented with an enormous basket of fruit tied up in cellophane with a ribbon – 16 oranges, 3 apples and dates.

We discovered coming back from dinner that the outside light wasn’t working. We reported it to reception next morning and it was fixed before lunch. We’d also had problems locking and unlocking the door and the locks were changed at the same time.

Breakfast and dinner were both self service buffets and there was a good choice of food. The hotel is a popular lunchtime stop.

We enjoyed the hotel. It was comfortable and very quiet as it was away from the town. The food was good. It is a good base for exploring the Berber villages of Douiret and Chenini as well as the Ksours. I have written separate reviews for these.
