I would recommend a visit to this iconic church if visiting Paris. It was number one on my list and did not disappoint. To avoid the steep incline up to the church, there is a funicular lift or tourist train or if you want to take an easier stroll, take the metro to the Clichy stop and follow the road around approaching the church from the top. There is a lovely atmosphere outside the church with musicians and carousels, however inside silence abounds as a service takes place and you are welcome to join in the prayers and take communion. The interior is spectacular and has a very calming aura about it. The area surrounding the church is cobbled streets, quaint shops, bars and restaurants along side a market place where artists ply their trade. All in all a very pleasant and perhaps the most relaxing morning that we spent in Paris.
