Walking

The Royal Hotel at Ross on Wye is a great location in the Wye Valley with spectacular views from the balcony by the bar where we ate our evening meal. No view from the breakfast room unfortunately, but it was a good breakfast with plenty of choice from muffins, fruit to usual cereals and cooked breakfast. Our bedroom had a view of a the river and the wall around Ross on Wye. The car park has some tight spaces for parking but we did always manage to find a space. The church clock which is nearby does chime the hours but it did not disturb our sleep as it was hard to hear in the bedroom.

It was a great location for our walking of the Wye Valley Way as it goes past the hotel, so we walked on 2 days from the hotel in a loop North one day, and South by the River the other day. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel and our room were clean and the Hotel was all beautifully refurbished this year so I would recommend this location. It is one of the Old English Inns group so we had a discount using our Tesco Vouchers. We ate in the bar rather than the restaurant as we wished to sit outside and watch the sun setting from the balcony.
