We enjoyed our recent visit to the Armouries, and were particularly taken with the setting, which is a peaceful and calm area of Leeds, with plenty of narrowboats to admire. We were looking at the Armouries with a view to taking our preschool grandsons there via the free canal boat ride which operates to and from Granary Wharf every Friday, Saturday and Sunday this Summer. The children who shared the ride with us thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and I know our little ones will too. We will introduce them to the Armouries by a quick visit to the War Gallery for the battle scenes with armoured horses, and the Hunting Gallery for the elephant in full armour, which I’m sure they will love. That and the Hall of Steel in the main entrance will probably be enough for 2 year olds, so we will conclude the visit with half an hour in the impressive children’s play area on the top level. I’m sure this will be the first of many visits to come over the next few years.
