Reasons for trip

We stayed at the very friendly Rose Bay Hotel during May/June 2019. We had 2 guest bedrooms. One overlooked the pool area and the other had an inland view. Both rooms were very nice and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was included and the choice was extensive. There were a lot of local dishes along with cooked eggs, beans and mushrooms. Plus fruit juices and a choice of teas and coffees.

The pool area was fairly quiet and swimming in the pool was often completely alone, which I love. There was definitely no bagging of sun beds!

The hotel is on the same side of the island as the airport and planes do go overhead quite low flying, but we did not find this a problem. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the beachfront with black sand (more like grit) and pebbles. Along the beachfront are lots of places to eat. From Kamari, buses go to Thira, the capital, where buses then connect to other parts of this lovely island. A long hot walk, high above Kamari is the settlement of Ancient Thera. This is well worth a visit and extremely interesting. See photo below.
