A remote hotel in a barren island but with nice people at the hotel and throughout the island. Food was great, drink the usual AI standard which we reinforced with some duty free and some nice local wines.
There's a fair amount to do if you're energetic enough. There are a few restaurants to choose from at the complex apart from the crowded standard one – but book 3 days in advance. We tried the SPA facilities which were reasonable and popular with the guests.
We also did a few island tours with a local company (not Thomson) which were very enjoyable and we tried some local restaurants which we would recdommend doing. We also had a loook at the capital which was a €30 each way trip. Don't stick just to the hotel or you might go stir-crazy after the first week!
One of our group fell on the slippery paths in the hotel and we suspected a broken wrist. Sympathy from hotel and Thomson was ZERO and the lady was very upset until one Thomson rep noticed her next day and insisted that the hotel doctor get involved at the hotel's cost – the hotel made it plain it was almost over their dead body! By the way, the small local hospital has an Xray machine, but it's broken, and for anything serious you have to fly to Tenerife.
Overall though, we would recommend the hotel but we would choose another island next time.
