I’ve recently returned from Oman where I celebrated my 30th Wedding anniversary with my husband. We stayed for three nights at the AL Bustan Palace hotel, (approximately 30 minutes drive from Muscat airport) before moving on to Dubai.
What a wonderful hotel. On entering the atrium the light and space was amazing. The hotel and gardens were very spacious and cool. The staff and service throughout were very attentive and helpful without being pushy.
Most of the guests were couples (of all ages) although there were some families present too. There were some daily activities arranged (yoga etc) but there is also a watersports centre & tennis courts available. The hotel & outside areas have free wifi but I couldn’t comment on local internet availability as I didn’t use it.
The Beach Pavilion restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and we sat at a table on the beach, under the stars with the sea just meters away. The food was fabulous and we were made to feel very special. The Al Khiran restaurant was also great with a buffet style breakfast and themed evening buffet menus.
We took the free hotel shuttle bus to the nearby early evening souk and enjoyed wandering around, experiencing the sounds & smells of the souk. At no time did we feel unsafe and the local people were hospitable.
This was quite an extravagant break for us and whilst it is quite an expensive place to visit, it was worth every penny.
