I visited the wonderful High Society exhibition at the Rijksmuseum in March 2018. This shows thirty-five portraits of the rich, famous and powerful – all life size portraits. There were a surprising number of British painters exhibited, but there were many superb portraits from around Europe. My favourite was a society lady by Boldini.
I also visited the Hermitage and the Van Gogh museums, and all on a sunny day trip from London Stansted.
